Barrel (Log) Horse Pull Toy
Instructor: Mary Barrett
Wednesday, September 21
7:00 pm to 10:00
In this class we are going to build a toy horse. It was historically called a log or beech horse. It was used as a ride on toy for very small children, someone pushing it or as a push toy to help children learn to walk. You will sand the pre-cut pieces and put them together. We will also be rough cutting the horse’s head, so you will be sharpening your jewelry saw skills or learning a new skill (the jewelry saw is a very useful miniature artisan tool). You can paint your new toy if you like or just add some paper decorations, which was what it traditionally was decorated with.
Supplies needed: Standard toolbox for equipment, but I will have everything you need. You may want to bring magnification or special lighting.
