Artist Workshop/House Museum Tour

9:00am – 5:15pm

Come join us for this day trip that will give you a flavor for the Connecticut countryside. Our first stop is to Bubba’s Mini Country Cupboards and the home of Barbara Vajnar, IGMA Artisan. After a drive through the woods and fields of Connecticut, visit Barbara’s lovely country home, and take a tour of her remarkable workshop. You might even learn a secret or two!

Next we will get back on the bus and make our way to the northwestern part of the state, also called “The Quiet Corner”. In the picturesque town of Woodstock, we will be visiting Roseland Cottage, known as “a colorful summer retreat”. Built in 1846 in the newly fashionable Gothic Revival style, Roseland Cottage was the summer home of Henry and Lucy Bowen and their young family. While the house is instantly recognizable for its pink exterior, Roseland Cottage has an equally colorful interior, featuring elaborate wall coverings, heavily patterned carpets, and stained glass, much of which survives unchanged from the Victorian era. The house is a National Historic Landmark.

Once we arrive, we will relax and enjoy our lunch on the grounds of this historic estate. If by chance it should rain, we will eat indoors. The private tour of the house begins at 2:30pm. We will return to the hotel by 5:15pm.
