Succulents in a Greenhouse using AirDry Clay
Instructor:  Anna Belogurova (A)

Thursday & Friday, 8/6/2026 & 8/7/2026, 8am to 5pm both days

This live workshop invites participants to create a realistic and vibrant miniature succulent composition using air-dry clay under the guidance of Anna, an experienced miniature artist, teacher, and IGMA Artisan.

During the class, Anna demonstrates the entire process step by step — from mixing colors and preparing the material to developing textures, "planting" the succulents, and completing the final composition. Participants are encouraged not only to follow techniques but also to develop an understanding of form, color, and composition, so that their miniatures resemble truly "living" plants.

Depending on participants' skill levels and working pace, it is possible to create 6 to 8 different types of succulents, each with its own character, shape, and detail.

Unlike an online class, this live workshop allows for a deeper exploration of the material and its properties, with greater emphasis on tactile experience, the nuances of working with clay, and individualized real-time guidance on each detail.

Throughout the session, Anna works closely with each participant, offering support, helping to correct mistakes, achieve realism, and develop a harmonious and expressive composition.

The project is based on an original miniature greenhouse, inside of which each participant builds their own small world with sculptural succulents and decorative accents made from natural materials.

Materials and techniques include:

  • air-dry clay
  • sculpting tools for shaping and texturing
  • watercolor tinting techniques

The result is a finished, exhibition-quality miniature piece.
