Intro to Punchneedle in Miniature
Instructor: Natalia Frank, IGMA Artisan
Friday, 8/7/2026, 1pm to 5pm
Celebrate the beauty of Summer and the connection with nature in the workshop "Miniature Punch Needle". Inspired by traditional motifs seen in historic textiles and rugs across many cultures, this class offers students the opportunity to bring that image to life on a tiny scale with the use of a punch needle.
Participants will create a 1/12th scale miniature punch needle rug/tapestry using punch techniques adapted for fine scale; learn to work with over dyed cotton floss to evoke a light, serene atmosphere; explore the symbolism of a Cat and Tree of Life and its role in textile traditions; practice precision control for miniature punch needle work, including outlining, texture variation, and finishing.
